Coaching found me in 2022. I was a consultant masquerading as a coach with no idea that certified Coaches are not meant to give advice. Concurrently, undergoing EMDR therapy taught me to look for hidden truths within. These two paths felt like they didn’t overlap. But, training as an ICF Coach showed me that real advise arrives from within and I wanted to help others slow down to hear from their own interior advisor.
Coaching offers me a place to take areas of low satisfaction such as my habitual feelings of disappointment, the tyranny I experience from unconsciously and relentlessly seeking achievement, and the spikes of emotion I feel more acutely as I whittle away at numbing behaviors. Coaching also provides a venue for me to envision what could be, like where to take our business and how to act on hints from the universe like one to begin running--a bazar, unlikely, almost humorous invitation.

My slow move towards coaching started in 2021 when I was looking for a new path. My former employer asked me to help them address skill gaps in new hires. The excitement I got from the 1200+ hours I spent listening, questioning, and teaching in 2022 offered me something new to consider. When I finally got some coaching, and found simple answers to a big questions within myself, I wanted to help others do the same.
Coaching creates time for reflection and throttles life’s pace. I use it to explore choices, areas of self-doubt, judgement of others, and the ever-returning sense of “being stuck.” It’s helped me make remodel decisions, access the joy of forgotten hobbies, and bring energy from past experiences into my vision for the future. Finding divine encouragements to re-engage spiritual disciplines in otherwise nonsensical dreams (encountering motorcycle gear in an apocalyptic Everett) was a surprise.
Finding courage, discovering the next step, embracing reconciliation, encountering the Divine, finding mission, mastering the masculine, examining life’s ingredients.
